I started out by cutting down a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4.25" by 5.5", then layered a slightly smaller piece of a lighter blue cardstock on top, leaving a very thin border of the dark blue cardstock showing. To get the textured look on the bottom two-thirds of the card, I cut out a piece of white cardstock and ran it through my cuttlebug machine using the Taylored Expressions burlap embossing folder.
For the top one-third of the card, I cut out a piece of floral patterned paper and a piece of clear vellum. I heat embossed a happy birthday sentiment using Versamark ink and Adirondack Denim embossing powder. Some pink and blue ribbon was used to cover the area where the top and bottom of the card came together.
For the lower right corner of the card, I heat embossed some flowers from the Stamping Up Flower Shop and Petite Petals stamp sets with some silver embossing powder. The larger of the flowers was colored in with copic markers (B12, B14, B18), and then the flowers were cut out with the coordinating Stamping Up punches. I took some Coats and Clark silver thread, wrapped it around my fingers several times, and tied a knot in the center before placing it behind the larger of the flowers. The card was finished off with some gemstone embellishments and adhered to some white cardstock to make a side-folding card.
